1.Apologies: Cheryl Ezekiel, Paul Gray
The Chairman informed the Board that we do have one visitor here tonight namely James
Painter who has come to explain his thoughts about Promoting Thanet and encourage more
people to visit, work and shop in our area. Looking to build on the good work which is
already happening in Thanet. Pym suggested that he contacted the Isle of Thanet Tourism
Association (ITTA) who have just commissioned Destination Alliance to restructure the
current ITTA. Pym agreed to send contact details to James. Derek stated a couple of years
ago that Miles and Barr did a good promotion document.
The Chairman asked if MTP was in support of James’s venture. The Board unanimously
agreed.

3. Matters Arising from Minutes – None
4. Reports:
Derek: The Margate Renewal newsletter is due out at the end of June and there is a good
article in it regarding MTP - the newsletter was circulated for the Board to look at.
Derek went on to say that there is a Public Realm meeting on Tuesday 8th June from 2.00pm.

Rebecca: The Town Crier applications have been received and are being processed. The
plan is to wait until after the World Cup for auditions.
Rebecca will draft an MTP newsletter and bring back to the next meeting – looking to go to
publication early July with a view to this being a quarterly publication for all Margate
businesses.
Nick: Some of the shop fronts have now been done with the vinyls and we are getting good
comments and hopefully we will be able to maintain the momentum. The funding for these
came from the Charter Trustees. Mick replied ‘well done with this initiative’
Daniel: has changed roles slightly and is now responsible for ‘street scene’.
Wanda: OTAG Saturday markets are back on the agenda for this year – these are very
successful.
Adam: Has arranged a meeting for Tuesday 8th June at 10.00. Media House and will be
inviting all license holders and licensed businesses from the Shakespeare around to the Old
Town to discuss the world cup licensed premises, events, working together etc. The Police,
TDC licensing officer has been invited. Pym said that Mark Richardson (CSP) should be
invited.
Adam went on to say that the Jazz Festival is being held on 23/26th July there will be
entertainment in the bars and also outside entertainment. Mick said that this is the Pride
weekend. Both Adam and Derek felt that there was no cross over and both events could run
along side of each other.
Katie: Recently there was a meeting of all event organizers held at TDC
As far as the Kite Festival is concerned the date is 2/3rd October and she is currently working
on getting land hire, road closure forms, etc together and having various meetings with
interested parties.
The Chairman: said that the posters are now up in the Old Town and also the trailer is just
about to go up on Richard Ash land opposite Marks & Spencer at Westwood Cross – this all
positive news for the area.
5. MTP Stage: John stated that he has had a request for the stage for 12 June at the
Margate Cricket Club for Pilgrims Hospice event.
6. Any Other Business
Website: Katie asked what is happening, Pym replied she has briefly looked at this and has
had a call from Chris Maplin at Carriss. Currently Phoenix Link are looking at Pym’s
computer and discussion have taken place about the website
Mick asked if the MTP would like to put a float in the Carnival on 1ast August?
